George Zimmerman: Charged with 2nd Degree Murder

14 Nov

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who admits he shot unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, was charged with murder today and has been taken into custody. The charge of second degree murder was announced by Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey at a news conference this evening.

If convicted of the charges Zimmerman could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic neighborhood watch captain, shot and killed Martin, who was 17 and black, on Feb. 26 after following the teenager for several minutes.

Zimmerman arrived at the Seminole County Jail in a motorcade of black SUVs, armed agents with automatic weapons guarding him at about 8:24 p.m. He is currently being held with no bond status. The next step in the process is first appearance, which is to be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. At this time, the judge may address his bond status.

Martin’s parents said at a news conference this evening that were grateful that Zimmerman has been arrested. Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father, said, however, “This is just the beginning. We have a long way to go.. and we will march and march and march until the right thing is done.”

Zimmerman’s lawyer stated that “He’s troubled by the fact that the state decided to charge him.”. He has nerve.

Sensitive Side of Politics: Obama Addresses His Team in Gratitude, In Tears

9 Nov

The morning after he won re-election, an emotional President Barack Obama credited his youthful staff of several hundred with running a campaign that will “go on in the annals of history.”

I think it was great to show this side of him, and also to address the people who worked hard, campaigned, held signs, and made phone calls on his behalf

Why I Support Chick-Fil-A..

2 Aug

As, known, the restaurant known for amazing chicken and delectable waffle fries, Chick-Fil-A, is catching major slack for their stance on gay marriage.

The controversy came to a boil after an interview with the fast food restaurant chain’s president and COO Dan Cathy appeared in The Baptist Press on July 16 and he weighed in with his views on family.

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” Cathy said. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

Gay rights activist have since called for the boycott of Chick-Fil-A, and said they would protest in front of stores.

The restaurant has since received support from millions of people. From politicians, to other restaurants, such as Wendy’s.

I support their stance.

You can NOT expect every single person to think the same way you do. Because Chick-Fil-A, does not support gays does not mean that they are bad people. They feel the way they feel. It’s called free speech. It was a right given to us at birth.

It seems that some gay people tend to think like everyone should like they do. False. Everyone is entailed to their own feelings, own morals, and own personal stance on life issues. It does not mean they hate gays, it simply means they believe that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman. Being gay is a personal choice, key word, personal, I think that it’s way too much being read into it. A personal matter, getting public attention. If you are gay, be happy in your own skin, and the person god made you, every single human being does not have to agree.

I read where a gay activist related this issue to the civil rights era when blacks were discriminated against. STOP. African Americans were not discriminated against because of who they chose to lay down with. They were captured, enslaved for many years, raped, beaten, killed, and still face humility because of the color of their skin. It is completely different and I was so disgusted that someone could relate such.

Since the controversy, Chick-Fil-A, has reported to have record setting sales. So, the boycott seems to be doing the exact opposite. So while all these activists are standing in 90+ degree weather, with the picket signs, and losing their voice, Chick-Fil-A is winning, and still has AMAZING FOOD. Point blank.

Keep the peace, and good waffle fries. 🙂 ♥

Matters That Need Attention: Babies Dying in North Korea.. SPREAD AWARENESS

Millions of North Koreanchildren are not getting the food, medicine or health care they need to develop physically or mentally, leaving an entire generation stunted and malnourished, the United Nations said Tuesday.

North Korea wants nothing to do with America, they don’t want their help, they have our government. These people live in the worst conditions, some have no access to outside world, tv and internet is rarely allowed, cell phones have been banned since 2004. Their leadership don’t want to people to be educated on different societies, it’s basically like they are being forced living in a bubble.

Nearly a third of North Korean children under age 5 show signs of stunting, particularly in rural areas where food is scarce, and scores are dying from diarrhea due to a lack of access to clean water, sanitation and electricity, the agency said.

According to the AP, People in the capital, Pyongyang, live in relative comfort, but the situation in the rest of the country is more dire. About 16 million North Koreans — two-thirds of the country — rely on twice-a-month government rations, the report said. And there are no signs the government will undertake the long-term structural reforms needed to spur economic growth, it said.

North Korea does not produce enough food to feed its 24 million people, and relies on limited purchases of food as well as outside donations to make up the shortfall.

North Korea’s new leader, Kim Jong Un, a jerk,  has sought to put forth an image of stability and unity but it is all but false. His constituents are starving, but he’s living lavish…

People have a tendency to only thing of the country of Africa when they think of nation suffering starvation.

Mega church Pastor Creflo Dollar Arrested.

10 Jun

The 50-year-old televangelist denied the allegations during Sunday morning services at his World Changers Church in Atlanta.

The pastor maintains the family argument began when he would not let his daughter attend a party.

“I will say this emphatically. I should have never been arrested,” Dollar said, adding “all is well in the Dollar household.

“The truth is that a family conversation with our youngest daughter got emotional, emotions got involved and things escalated from there.”

Dollar faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children, after his 15-year-old daughter called 911 Friday night to report her father punched and choked her. The story was reportedly corroborated by her 19-year-old sister.

The police report states thealtercation turned physical when when Dollar tried to restrain his upset daughter. She began to hit back, which allegedly led the pastor to tackle his daughter to the ground and spank her.

The girl called 911 after she went to the kitchen, upset. Dollar asked why she was crying, and she told him, “I don’t want to talk right now,” which led the pastor to charge her, wrap his hands around her throat, punch her and hit her with her show, according to the report.

Dollar reportedly told the Fayette County sheriff’s deputy that his daughter wasn’t allowed to go to the party because of poor grades.

The 19-year-old daughter told the deputy Dollar grabbed her sister by the shoulders, slapped her and threw her to the ground.

Dollar’s wife, Taffi, told the deputy she did not see the fight.

The pastor addressed the allegations head-on during services.

“I can imagine … if I punched my kid, it would hurt her,” he said. “If I choked my kid, you would see visible signs on her neck. But to come and take a picture of a mark that’s been there for 10 years and not have enough intelligence to at least ask the parent what it is, is appalling.”

If disciplining your child  because they attacked you is a crime, it’s clear that I may not be the best contestant for children, because by all means, I’m taking that sucker down.. ♥

Latin History. African American History. & Now White History Being Studied in Schools..

29 May

Among university departments that study African-American history, Latin American or Chicano cultures and all varieties of ethnicities and nationalities, there’s a relatively obscure field of academic inquiry: whiteness studies.

Today, there are dozens of colleges and universities, including American University in Washington, D.C., and University of Texas at Arlington, and University of Wisconsin  that have a smattering of courses on the interdisciplinary subject of whiteness studies.

According to a CNN In America blog, The field argues that white privilege still exists, thanks largely to structural and institutional racism, and that the playing field isn’t level, and whites benefit from it. Using examples such as how white Americans tend not to be pulled over by the police as often as blacks and Latinos, or how lenders targeted blacks and Latinos for more expensive, subprime loans during the recent U.S. housing crisis, educators teach how people of different races and ethnicities often live very different lives.

But today, academics who teach the classes say they face a fresh hurdle, one that has its roots on the left instead of the right: the election of Barack Obama as America’s first black president.

“Having Obama is, in a curious way, putting us behind,” says Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, a professor of sociology at Duke and visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.

In my opinion it’s only fair, why not teach about all races and backgrounds and tell how to live and vary among st each other? But, as obvious, some will be opposed to this.  Will this cause more racial tension or educate to bring understanding?

Woman Accuse a Man of Rape, He Serves Time, Then She Facebook’ed Him Saying “Let By Gones Be By Gones”

25 May

“There are no words in any language, no gesture in any culture that can explain or describe what I have been through,” said Brian Banks. “I hope my story brings light to a major flaw in the judicial system.”

Freed: A one-time promising football star, Brian Banks, weeps after his rape conviction was dismissed in court. He was just 16 when a childhood friend accused him of kidnapping and raping her at school

According to the Associated Press, A high school football star who was once one of the most highly sought after athletes in the nation has had a rape charge against him dropped after the woman confessed on Facebook that the rape never happened.  Brian Banks, who is now 26-years old, spent six years in prison and broke down crying when the prosecutor moved to have the case dismissed.

Banks was once a football star with dreams of playing in the NFL.  He was only 16 when a woman accused him of kidnapping and raping her at school.   The woman, Wanetta Gibson, added him as a friend on Facebook and in a message said she wanted to “let bygones be bygones.”

Here’s the culprit.

Wanetta GibsonWanetta Gibson

Banks’ attorney, Justin Brooks, said that Gibson and Banks met and she was caught on video admitting that no rape every took place, and that she would help him to clear his record.  She was then brought before prosecutors and is now obligated to repay the $1.5 million that her mother was paid by the school for what allegedly happened.

I will go through with helping you but it’s like at the same time all that money they gave us, I mean gave me, I don’t want to have to pay it back,” she told Banks.

Banks went to jail in 2002 for the crime, when he was just 16 years old.  At the time, he was being heavily recruited by USC and other colleges.     He was on his way to fill out college applications when he met up with Gibson and went to a stairwell to make out. He apparently said something she didn’t like, which led to the allegations of kidnapping and rape.

Investigators found no physical evidence of rape.   Due to the pressure from his attorney and prosecutors, Banks pleaded no contest to the kidnap and rape charge, after being told that he would get 41 years in prison if he fought the charge and was convicted.

New start: Banks, with his attorneys Justin Brooks and Alissa Bjerkhoel, after the charges are dismissed. It comes after the accuser contacted him to say the rape did not happen

Banks thought he would get just 18 months based on his attorney’s advice, and instead ended up in prison for six years.   While in prison, his case was taken on by the California Innocence Project.  After released Brian was unable to find work because he was forced to register as a sex offender, all for a crime he did not commit, with no evidence to prosecute him with. Shame.

She is a sick woman, who should have charges filed against her and should face jail time, and the state should give him a bountiful pay back, it won’t get back the years of his life that he lost, no the career that was taken away from him, but, he deserves at least pay. It’s a very tragic story.
